This is a fun one-day event for middle and high school students to come together and tackle problems in the community using code and technology. Take advantage of this unique opportunity for your child to apply their knowledge and skills in a friendly, collaborative environment. All experience levels are welcome.

Tuition:
$25 per student
Includes lunch and event t-shirt
Limited to 125 students.

If your student is enrolled in the free and reduced lunch program, they may be eligible for a scholarship. Please contact us.

Keynote Speakers

Dr. Hafedh Azaiez

Superintendent of Schools

Dr. Azaeiez has over 20 years of experience in public education and holds a doctorate of education in educational leadership from Sam Houston State University. His mission for the community is to ensure that every student in Round Rock ISD has the opportunity to achieve their dreams and realize their potential. He’s long advocated for expanding opportunities for students in STEM subjects like math, science, and engineering and looks forward to sharing his knowledge and experience with the Hackathon students.

We can’t make the Hackathon happen without you! We’re seeking dedicated mentors to help provide an awesome learning opportunity for the students. You must be available on Saturday, March 29th from 8am to 5pm. If you are interested, visit the mentors page and complete the form to volunteer.

Compete to Win Prestigious Awards

Students will present their projects and be judged based on five criteria including the impact and execution. The top projects will receive prestigious 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards from the Round Rock School District—an achievement that can enhance your child’s resume and strengthen their college applications.

FAQs

Who is this for?
For middle and high school students of all Round Rock ISD schools. Due to space limitations, we aren’t able to accommodate non-district students.

Should parents stay during the event?
This is a dropoff and pickup event. Parents are neither required nor allowed to stay at the premises during the Hackathon event.

What should the student bring?
Students should bring their fully charged district-issued Chromebook, its charger, and a drink.
