Our Founder’s Personal Journey into Coding
Our story began with a personal quest. Our founder, Jey Iyempandi, was driven by a need to understand coding in a technology-centric world, both for professional advancement and everyday problem-solving. His journey through self-paced online courses was fruitful, but it highlighted a gap regarding his daughter’s coding education. The existing resources were great for self-motivated adults but fell short for young learners who needed more interaction and structure.
The Birth of CodeWizardsHQ
Faced with his daughter’s frequent requests for help, Jey spent the summer of 2014 dedicating over 200 hours to teaching her how to code. While it was a rewarding experience, it was also clear that a more sustainable approach was needed—one that combined the benefits of live instruction with the flexibility of online learning.
In the summer of 2015, Jey tested his idea. He gathered a small group of students through social media and led the classes himself. The experiment was a success, and the positive feedback from students and parents alike was overwhelming. This experience paved the way for what CodeWizardsHQ is today—a pioneering educational platform dedicated to teaching coding to children through live, teacher-led classes.
